About Bird Venue
Bird Venue is a guide for people who live with birds: backyard birders, chicken keepers and pet-bird owners. Every page tries to answer one real question clearly: what is happening, why it is happening, and what to do next.
What we cover
- Chickens and the backyard flock: buying and raising chicks, coops and runs, feed, laying, health, predators, and the hard days.
- Backyard and wild birds: who is at the feeder, nesting, baby birds, and birds that turn up where you don’t want them.
- Parrots and pet birds: talking, behaviour, diet and care for parrots, budgies and cockatiels.
- Feeders, baths and gear: what to put out, what lasts, and what is worth buying.
Meet Erick, our editor
Erick is a lifelong bird enthusiast and the editor of Bird Venue. He watches the birds at his own feeders, follows how they nest and raise their young, and edits every guide here so it answers the real question a reader brings. His interests run from identifying species to understanding why birds behave the way they do.
How we write and check our guides
- We start from what people actually search for and the questions they ask, and we answer those first.
- Facts about bird health, safety and the law are checked against published sources: extension services, avian vets’ guidance, wildlife agencies and manufacturers’ specifications.
- When something depends on your situation (your climate, your flock, your bird), we say what it depends on instead of pretending there is one answer.
- We do not claim to have personally tested every product we mention. Product picks are based on specifications, real owner feedback and how well a product fits the problem the guide is about.
- Guides are reviewed and updated over time. If you spot a mistake, please tell us and we will fix it.
Bird Venue is not a veterinary service. For a sick or injured bird, contact an avian vet or a licensed wildlife rehabilitator.
